Se prevedi di passare la notte in una delle piu' romantiche localita' del pianeta,alllora devi pernottare assolutamente all'hotel Flora di Venezia
(piu' in basso nella pagina troverai una descrizione piu' accurata dell'albergo ).
Ambiente idilliaco e ricco di atmosfera.
Alcune stanze (sono tutte arredate con mobili antichi) hanno incredibili viste su piccoli giardini di antiche case private .
Secondo noi c'e' anche qualche fantasma.Da non perdersi la colazione nel piccolo ma bellissimo giardino dell'hotel.
Il personale e' molto simpatico e disponibile.Il prezzo non e' dei piu' economici, ma e' per Venezia molto onesto.
Inoltre l'hotel flora e' carinissimo.A due passi da p.zza San Marco.
Raccomandazione dei portieri del Flora : attenzione alle centinaia di borseggiatori all'opera ovunque.
Un consiglio per scappare dalla folla : vai alla scoperta delle piccole osterie a Cannareggio,
dove spendendo poco potrai bere e mangiare a volonta' in caratteristiche osterie.

This small hotel near Piazza San Marco offers a
dreamy tranquil stay in the palazzo adjacent to
the one that Venetians call - quite inexplicably
but very colourfully - Desdemona's house. The
décor veers towards the twee. There is a warm
cosy bar and a tiny idyllic garden with small
wrought-iron tables and a fountain in the middle.

Glitzy, glam and very imposing, with its silk
damask wallpaper with matching curtains, inlaid
marbles and Murano chandeliers. Conveniently
situated a stone's throw from the station, though
this means it's slap bang in the centre of an area
that is noisy, dirty, thronged with tourists and
away from the main cultural sights and better
restaurants.

The off-putting padded-wall effect does not
extend beyond the corridors in the Continental,
where the rooms are pleasantly decorated. Some
have high ceilings and some have views over the
Grand Canal. The reception rooms are rather
oppressive but there is a lovely little terrace on
the Grand Canal. If the gushing service is not too
much for you, this is definitely a step up from
most three-stars near the station.

Compared with its sister hotel the Ala, which is
just five minutes walk away, this has much more
of a homely, friendly feeling here. Some of the
rooms are a bit cramped, but there is an
enchanting attention to detail. It's situated very
near to Piazza San Marco, but off the main tourist
street, down a little alley to a lovely outdoor
courtyard where guests can have their meals, with
a well (pozzo) in the middle.

Set in the tranquil residential area of the
Cannaregio, just off the popular Campo dei Santi
Apostoli and the Strada Nuova, the Giorgione
exudes warmth and comfort, rather than glitz.
The older fifteenth-century palazzo joins the
newer part around a flower-filled courtyard with a
central lilypond. Some split-level rooms have
private verandas overlooking the roof-tops and
the courtyard below.

A big entrance door from the busy Strada Nuova
leads you into the wonderful courtyard of this
Venetian palazzo. The locanda (inn - often an
upmarket pensione) is on the third floor and can
be reached via a lift or, by the more energetic, via
a wonderful wide and worn flight of stone stairs.
There are only twelve rooms but all are spacious
and individually decorated. A couple of the rooms
have views over the Grand Canal to the Rialto
Market, others over the roof-tops.

The sign of the `sturgeon' (sturion in Venetian
dialect) can be made out in Carpaccio's painting
of the Miracle of the Cross in the Accademia. By
the time this was painted in 1494 the hotel had
already been open for business for two centuries,
its strategic position by the Rialto bridge making
it a favourite with visiting merchants. Today it is
one of the best-value Grand Canal locations in
the city - though only two premium-price rooms
and the breakfast room actually look out over the
big water; the others (and the entrance) give onto
a quiet calle. Service is friendly and well-
informed, and there is a small library of books on
Venice available for guests. The only drawback is
the lack of a lift. Book well in advance.

A stone's thrown from the Rialto bridge, and well
placed for a morning stroll through the fish
market, the reception rooms in this former tavern
are done out in a wonderful old-world bachelor
style; the rooms are simpler. Two of them look
out onto the Grand Canal; the others have the
advantage of being much quieter.

This wonderful seventeenth-century villa, which
used to be the Russian embassy, has two
gardens, one of which surrounds a Palladian-style
villa. Breakfast is served in the garden or in the
wood-panelled breakfast area. The rooms are
stylishly done out with marble floors.

Ruskin stayed here in 1876 while writing The
Stones of Venice. The interior décor is classic and
cool; the rooms have parquet floors, and have
recently been refurbished but not
over-modernised. Palladio's Redentore church can
be admired from the Calcina's floating terrace on
the Giudecca canal. The hotel also has a
roof-terrace.

Situated right next to the Rialto bridge, this
hotel's potentially noisy rooms looking over the
Grand Canal are saved by double-glazing. The
interior is clean and plush, if a tad kitsch, with
slightly off-putting reception rooms where no bit
of wall, floor or even ceiling space seems to be
left untouched. The bedrooms are more restful in
design; some have beamed ceilings and a couple
have balconies.

building are elegant and some of the reception
rooms look out over the Grand Canal to the Ca'
D'Oro: there is also a lovely veranda on the
Canal. It's difficult to find, but worth the search.

The slightly grotty reception in this
eighteenth-century house does not bode well, but
in fact the bedrooms are quite spacious, some
with wonderfully high ceilings and some with views
onto a tranquil canal, where the calm is
punctuated only by shouts from passing
gondoliers and the caterwauling of gondola-borne
accordion players.

Situated on the wonderfully lively and
quintessentially Venetian square of Santa Maria
Formosa, this hotel is done up in pseudo
eighteenth-century style with lashings of Murano
glass. The rooms are cosy and some have
balconies with views over the Campo and onto
Coducci's wonderfully curvaceous church.
